Date Night -2011 Archives

In the spirit of the holidays and the new year coming up, I am reflecting on my favorite moments with my husband. Since we do not have a child yet, it is a perfect time for us to do what we do… enjoying each other’s presence in different scenery (while still maintaining our responsibilities). Here are some pics of my favorite date days and nights of 2011. We don’t do date night as often was we like, but when we do, we make it count. As you can see, date nights doesn’t have to by by the book- we mixed ours up with fun, culture, and music. Quality time is up to YOU, so think about the types of date nights that are stimulating and fun for you both! Each activity (accept for the Cirque du Soleil show) was under $100 for the both of us.

We went to Bowers Museum to see our favorite archeologist, Dr. Zahi Hawass (yes, we have a favorite archeologists, nerdy, I know). We both were very intrigued by Egyptian antiquities and it lead us to visit Egypt in 2007. Meeting Dr. Hawass is a true honor.

Joe’s best friend (and best man) tours with Linkin Park and stage hand. He comped killer seats at Linkin Park’s San Diego tour. We partied with them afterwards. This is the back of the tour bus. They converted it into a bar!

We went to Lucha Va Voom on Cinco De Mayo. Lucha Va Voom is a show for the senses. The show combines comedy, burlesque and wrestling (yes, midget wresling too). It was such a good time. We took the metro as our designated driver. Although we went with a group, this was still quality time with my Joe. GREAT TIMES!

Remember how I said to go “back to the roots”? This past halloween we did both. I love dressing up and loves to hear his favorite DJ (Doc Martin) play live. So we did both! I also chose a couple’s costume that I knew he would enjoy. The previous years did not fare so well.

We went to the Huntington Library one day and had an incredible breakfast before hand. I loved walking through the rose garden, Japanese garden, and art collections.

We visited the Tim Burton exhibit at LACMA. It was so awesome to see Burton’s concepts from it’s origin. He is very talented in many different mediums. We ate at the Stinking Rose right after. It was a great meal!

We went to Vegas for our one year anniversary. We watched “Love” by Cirque du Soleil. It was a beautiful interpretation of music from the Beatles. This awesome performance inspired us to see Michael Jackson’s “Immortal” By Cirque du Soleil next month.

I recently developed a taste for red wine. This is amazing since Joe likes reds as well. We started to wine pair often. We did a delicious pairing at V. Sattui Winery in Napa. I highly suggest pairing.
